Some of our team members are lucky enough to live in beautiful Boulder and many of us visit as often as we can, so what are the best hotels in Boulder Colorado?  Nestled against the stunning Flatirons, Boulder offers a diverse array of accommodations to suit every traveler’s preferences.

But be aware, CU Boulder is in the heart of the city and attracts a significant number of visitors all year, especially around significant events when the town’s population swells.  These events include things like:

  • Student Recruitment and Orientation: Thousands of prospective students and their families visit Boulder annually for campus tours, admission interviews, and orientation programs.
  • Graduation Ceremonies: Commencement events draw large crowds of family and friends, often resulting in full hotels and bustling restaurants.
  • CU Athletic Events: CU’s sports teams, particularly football and basketball, bring fans from across Colorado and beyond, boosting local tourism during games.
  • Academic Conferences and Workshops: The university hosts various academic gatherings, bringing researchers, educators, and professionals to Boulder.

So if your trip coincides with a CU event, book early, accommodation in town can be in short supply.  So, here’s a curated list of the best hotels in Boulder Colorado, categorized to help you find your perfect stay.

Best Historical Hotel: Hotel Boulderado

Steeped in history since 1909, Hotel Boulderado offers guests a journey back in time with its Victorian-inspired décor and antique furnishings (sometimes we feel like we just walked into the set of the funeral parlor in Six Feet Under) and if Victoriana is not your thing, you may want to pick something else . As Boulder’s first luxury hotel, it boasts a grand lobby adorned with a stunning stained-glass ceiling and original mosaic tiles. Guests can choose between historic rooms, featuring classic Victorian décor, and contemporary rooms in the North Wing, which offer modern amenities. On-site dining options include Spruce Farm & Fish and The Corner Bar, providing a taste of local cuisine in a historic setting. When we stay here we always have dinner at one of favorite Boulder restaurants, Izakaya Amu which is very close to the Boulderado – if there is a group of you, book the tatami room for a special experience. The Boulderado always goes overboard in the Holiday season so if you are visiting at this time of year it is definitely worth a visit.
